MoFi Electronics Goes Digital With The StudioDAC

MoFi Electronics StudioDAC

The electronics arm of MoFi has been producing some really decent analog products since it first entered the market a few years ago. Partnering with longtime designer Andrew Jones was just the latest in a long line of turntable and other HiFi products. This week the company announced it was dipping its toe into the digital domain with the launch of a $600-ish digital converter in roughly the same footprint as their UltraPhono pre.

The StudioDAC is fairly straightforward with its approach, offering a top-down view to the inner workings with knobs and lights on the top panel. The relatively small footprint is a welcome one for desktop warriors, and the fairly basic connections on the back panel should suffice for most computer-based setups as well. The design is based around a ESS9038Q2M chip, and is also a collaboration with Michal Jurewicz of Mytek.
