John Devore is one of HiFi’s more interesting characters. Vividly talented in the arts, well spoken and one heck of a speaker designer, the proprietor of DeVORE FIDELITY has his own YouTube channel and makes for a good interview – even in the case of a 1.5 hour runtime.
The latest episode from PartTimeAudiophile’s The Occasional Podcast hits many good talking points across John’s skillset. From discussions on driver material choice to cabinet design and getting better sound at lower levels, he really showcases a great strength from his learnings & listening over the years as a speaker designer and audiophile. The show even caps off on some of his hand sculpted artwork and his inspiration for so much creatively post-covid.
You can find some of John’s artwork here on his Facebook Feed, his personally narrated YouTube Channel and his website for his speaker designs.
The Occasional Podcast put on it’s holiday costume for The HiFi Murders for Halloween month, but previous episodes include how tos, tips, tricks and education in all things high fidelity audio from episodes like last week’s Hot Headphones For The Holidays, Crossover Education with Andrew Jones, 3 things to know about streaming audio, 5 things to consider when buying a tube amplifier, coverage of the HIGHEND Munich 2023, interviews with Steve Guttenberg, how to’s and more from audio’s greatest talents, including Michael Fremer and Pacific Audio Fest 2022 Best of Show, another interesting conversation about the History Of The BBC’s LS3/5a Loudspeaker, A Beginner’s Guide To Tube Amplifiers and A View From The Booth: Reference Systems, Accuracy & Why Audiophiles Love Jazz So Much: including rare interview with the late audio legend engineer Al Schmitt. The finale from season 5 includes the yearly “best of awards” and you can also find episodes covering British HiFi, Subwoofers/Setup/Tips, and the how to: Budgeting From Entry Level To High End.
