Focal And Naim Announce The Mu-so Hekla

Focal Mu-so Hekla

Focal Mu-so Hekla: The one soundbar to rule them all.

The press release on Focal/Naim’s latest all-in-one unit (usually known as the Mu-So line when it includes speakers) doesn’t really mention the word “soundbar” in the marketing jargon or copywriting syntax. That’s probably for good reason, as the company has long avoided the mainstream form factor in the Mu-So line in lieu of more compact real estate options. The Hekla breaks new ground, so to speak. It holds on to some of the good roots in industrial design and small box practicality, but widens its stance for a larger stereophonic image this time around.

This compact aluminum monolith promises “spectacular immersion” courtesy of 15 speaker drivers and 660 watts of power, with audio tuning handled by Focal’s usual team of French acoustic alchemists and Naim’s British amplifier prowess. The system taps into the Naim Pulse Platform, the same tech underpinning the company’s recent streaming lineup, and folds in a buffet of features: Dolby Atmos, Beamforming, Crosstalk Cancellation, and even an ADAPT room calibration system that adjusts to your space and taste.

As for control, Focal promises the experience to be seamless as always. We have had excellent experiences with their app features for a variety of sources and amps in the Naim lineup. This one includes the addition of even more TV and home entertainment connections with HDMI eARC, optical, and a long loom of streaming options (Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify, AirPlay, Google Cast, Bluetooth) to keep things moving along with the ever-changing home theater and music playback market.

At $3,600, the Hekla sits in rarefied air (but not the highest we have ever seen)—a price that suggests “statement piece” more than “Netflix companion.” But for those who want a living room centerpiece that can handle both Barbie and Blade Runner 2049 in spatial surround glory, it might just deliver the eruption Focal is promising.

Available first in South Korea and China, with a global rollout in early 2026 and appearances at CES and ISE, the Mu-so Hekla looks poised to redefine what “plug-and-play” could mean—assuming you have a few grand to plug in.
