The distinctly on-brand name of Noble Audio’s new flagship heralds the way for a earphone that sports three different technologies specifically designed for their appropriated frequency range. The Noble Sultan uses a 10mm dynamic driver for the lows, 4 Knowles-brand balanced armature drivers for the mids and wait for it… two electrostatic super tweeters for the highs.
This seven driver array is Noble’s “Tri-level Hybrid Technology” and along with the premium pricing comes hand assembly, earphone matching and a fairly sexy default faceplate. Of course, with the use of electrostatic drivers in an IEM design, impedance numbers sometimes find their way into the conversation. On the company website Noble claims the new flagship will be less than 35 ohms. This spec should be good enough to drive from any conventional portable device like mobile phones or dedicated audiophile digital players.
Noble Audio has seen much success with its earlier universal fit Kaiser line, offering different variations of the model and a follow-up generation called the Kaiser Encore ($1,850). The next in line was Khan, which also utilized Tri-Level Hybrid tech, but this time with a 10mm piezo electric driver for the highs. The move to electrostatic elements is an interesting move for the company, who always seeks to keep fairly close to the leading edge of IEM technologies.
Expect pricing to hit at $2,900 in the US. Interested parties can register a pre order on Noble’s site directly, but the global brand also has an international dealer network for those who might want to gander a listen to the new model in their own neck of the woods.
