SVS Introduces The New 1000 Pro Series
The current SVS SB-1000 and PB-1000 are undoubtedly one of the company’s biggest sellers, so a complete renovation from the ground up on the $500/$600 sub is a big deal for Youngstown, OH speaker maker. The new SVS 1000 Pro Series offers “major advancements to the driver, amplifier, cabinet, and overall user experience” for those coming from the previous iterations.
We had a chance to review the original ported SVS PB-1000 (PB=ported, SB=sealed) and found the low-end reach and overall punch delightful along with the very non-audiophile pricing. The new subs include fine tuning available from the downloadable mobile device app via bluetooth, something that was originally made for the massive 16-Ultra (which is a beast of a sub). Feature set breakdown from the press release:
Powering the 1000 Pro Series is a commanding and sophisticated Sledge STA-325D amplifier that combines the high current output of discrete MOSFETs with Class D efficiency. Boasting an impressive 325 watts RMS and 820+ watts peak power and vanishingly low distortion, the unique design unleashes nearly limitless on-demand power to the driver, while maintaining precise driver control.1000 Pro Series subwoofers play effortlessly and still achieve accurate frequency response.
Harnessing the massive power of the Sledge amplifier is a 50 MHz Analog Devices Audio DSP with 56-bit filtering, the most sophisticated DSP engine available in a home subwoofer. The abundant processing power maintains pristine sound quality that’s faithful to the source material through advanced in-room tuning, optimized frequency response curves, powerful DSP controls and more. This level of processing power is simply unheard of at this price range.
Drivers in the SVS 1000 Pro subwoofers are completely new designs and built for serious output, finesse, and accuracy. The proprietary SVS design features a dual ferrite magnet motor assembly with long-throw parabolic surround for extreme excursion with room-pressurizing SPLs. A lightweight and rigid aluminum vented cone with composite fiber dustcap moves immense amounts of air to create tactile sonic energy without losing control. The result is clean, accurate bass, even at intense listening levels.
The SVS SB-1000 Pro starts at $499 and the SVS PB-1000 Pro is $599. The company ships direct and has the new products available now on the SVS site.
