SVS 3000 R|Evolution Series Brings Flagship Bass Tech Down to Earth (and Down to 16Hz)

SVS 3000 Series Subwoofers

SVS has made something of a habit out of redefining expectations in the subwoofer category, and with the launch of the new 3000 R|Evolution Series, the Ohio-based brand appears to be doing it once again—this time by distilling the DNA of its flagship 17-Ultra R|Evolution platform into a slightly more accessible, real-world friendly package.

Positioned as the “sweet spot” in the SVS lineup, the 3000 R|Evolution Series takes direct inspiration from the company’s top-tier designs, blending reference-grade output, extension, and control into sealed and ported models aimed squarely at serious enthusiasts who want flagship performance without flagship pricing—or footprint.

The lineup consists of two models: the SB-3000 R|Evolution, a compact sealed subwoofer engineered for speed, articulation, and musical refinement, and the PB-3000 R|Evolution, a ported design built to pressurize rooms with cinematic authority while retaining audiophile-grade composure. In short: pick your poison—precision or sheer power.

At the heart of both designs is an all-new 13-inch high-excursion SVS driver, featuring a flat-edge wound split-wind voice coil, toroidal ferrite magnet motor, aluminum shorting ring, and a thoroughly reworked suspension system. The promise: massive output with low distortion, fast transient response, and bass that doesn’t blur when things get complex – SVS chasing finesse as hard as force.

Power comes from a serious piece of hardware: a 1,200-watt continuous / 4,000+ watt peak Class-D amplifier with a fully discrete MOSFET output stage—a rarity at this price tier. The accompanying two-stage switch-mode power supply hopes to help that even under brutal dynamic swings, so the subwoofer can stay composed, controlled, and unflappable.

Running the show is a 295MHz Analog Devices DSP, the most recent processing engine for SVS. User control is handled via the SVS Subwoofer Control App, offering more granular tuning options including parametric EQ, room gain compensation, port tuning (on the PB model), and multiple presets. Balanced XLR and RCA inputs make integration painless whether you’re running a two-channel rig or a full Atmos system.

SVS has also announced Auto EQ, coming soon via firmware update, allowing room correction using your phone’s microphone—a potentially game-changing convenience feature for users who don’t want to juggle external calibration tools.
