The Sennheiser HD250BT Wireless Headphone.
Bluetooth enabled headphones didn’t start out in the budget side of mainstream pricing, but if January’s list of announcements are any indication – things are looking up for those who want to save a little scratch and ditch the wires.
Hot off the press surrounding this year’s “virtual” CES (a consumer electronic show normally held in Las Vegas this time of year) is a new headphone that takes some notes from the on-ear selection of pro and pro-sumer options that Sennheiser has become known for. The HD-25 is no doubt a fan favorite in the entry-level field for audiophiles, known for its resourceful tight head grip and punchy DJ sound. However the new HD250BT is voiced, the technology packed inside comes fully equipped for wireless delivery with Bluetooth 5.0, aptX Low Latency and equalization possibilities via Sennheiser’s Smart Control app.
In addition to an on-board microphone for calls, the entry level headphone packs a full 25 hours of rated battery use..not too shabby for less than one Ben Franklin.
The Sennheiser HD250BT will launch for $70 when it becomes available later this month (Jan ’21).
The Sennheiser IE 300 IEM.
If wireless headphones aren’t your bag, then Sennheiser has you covered with a new pair of audiophile-oriented earphones in the form of the IE 300. A revised 7mm “Extra Wide Band” dynamic driver graces the upcoming in-ear monitor which includes an optimized membrane foil for reduced resonances and a lower total harmonic distortion for the piece (THD < 0.08% at 1 kHz, 94 dB).
Sennheiser chose to include a utilitarian recessed MMCX connection at the point of the shell, which helps with more universal cabe swapping. Both a 2.55m jack and balanced cables are available from Sennheiser direct. The cable also takes some queues from the production space as well. A flexible tubing shields the wire at the connection, offering a tighter and more controlled fit around the ear similar to live performance IEMs that you might see from musicians on stage.
The new Sennheiser IE 300 will be available to purchase on January 19 for a retail price of $299.95 USD.
