Bowers & Wilkins has unveiled its latest offering, the 600 Series S3.
The long time audiophile brand has released an eighth generation of this range, the 600 Series S3, and hopes to introduce notable upgrades to various aspects of its acoustic performance.
Comprising four models – the floorstanding 603 S3, the standmount 606 S3, the bookshelf speaker 607 S3, and the home theatre-oriented HTM6 S3 center channel – the new range caters to various preferences. A range of finishes, including Oak, White, Black, and a special Cherry finish in APAC markets, offers a few aesthetic varieties. They are also offering the FS-600 floor stand in Silver or Black to round out the bookshelf style options as well.
One of the most significant changes is the introduction of the Titanium Dome Tweeter, featuring a two-part construction and elongated tube-loading system for reduced resonant frequency and improved sound dispersion. Derived from the 700 Series S3, this technology leads to a more refined and open sound without compromising resolution or detail.
Furthermore, advancements are trickling down from the Bowers & Wilkins’ 700 Series range. The Continuum Cones, a proprietary feature, include updated midrange and bass/midrange drive units with more powerful, lower distortion 700 Series S3 motor assemblies. The cabinets have also undergone extensive improvements, including closer placement of tweeter and main drive units, upgraded terminal trays and bass ports from the 700 Series S3, enhanced internal bracing, and metal threaded inserts for secure fixation to stands.
The 600 Series S3 is positioned as an entry point into the Bowers & Wilkins brand, catering to an increasing demand for higher sound quality through vinyl and high-resolution streaming. By incorporating in-house developed technologies from higher-end ranges, the new 600 Series S3 seeks to maintain a reputation for delivering True Sound and artist intent.
Dave Sheen, Brand President of Bowers & Wilkins, highlights the company’s belief in the new 600 Series S3 setting a benchmark in its category, aligning with the brand’s promise of True Sound. The range is set to be available from August 23rd through the brand’s website and select retailers.
