Alta Audio Updates The StandMount Celesta FRM-2

Alta Audio Celesta FRM-2

As summer slowly gives way to the holiday buying season, product releases start to heat up in their own special way. Announced late this weekend, Alta Audio will be updating their original standmount Celesta FRM-2 with several new revisions moving forward.

The 55 lb, 4 ohm speaker still utilizes a ribbon tweeter, a 6″ woofer and polyester finish cabinet, but will now offer many updates to the internal bits that help make up the rest of heart and soul of the product. According to the press release: “Among the updates are upgraded cabling, new conductors and capacitors, a new magnetic grille, and next-level DampHard material that helps to create an acoustically dead, resonance-free speaker.”

Those that follow the site know that we have a soft spot in our hearts for high-performance standmount and bookshelf-style speakers. Producing big sound out of small spaces offers perhaps one of the most creative challenges for designers in the high-end market. The Celesta FRM-2 would definitely qualify as high-end within the two channel audiophile crowd as retail asking price is $18k a pair.

Expect shipping to start this month with the new updates.
