With the biggest audio show in the western hemisphere behind us, it almost seems crazy to look back and try to categorize it all. The AXPONA audio show took place April 14-16 and along with it came many new product releases, over 200 listening rooms and tons of great sounding rigs.
It was a great show from so many perspectives, not just attendance, abundance of options and even weather, but also from a sonic look. Things were fired up and really sounding good even from day 1, whereas it usually takes a little bit for things to get fine tuned. In reality, if you want the best sounds, check out an audio show on Sunday after the rooms have had a full three days to tweak and warm things up. Ironically, Sunday is also typically the least attended day with the most availability to sit in room. However, if you want the best time to celebrate high fidelity with your fellow audiophiles, there isn’t anything else quite like the buzz of a Saturday morning at an audio event. After all, it’s not just about the gear. Tons of people like to reconnect at the gathering around a common love for hifi, and many people (press included) were out and about for the first time in years.
If you want to catch up with all the AXPONA highlights, including some best of show nominations, PartTimeAudiophile’s The Occasional Podcast has all the good, bad and aurally pleasing takeaways from the event this weekend. Four part timers help bring the interview together, covering a ton of ground collectively that a single pair of ears would clearly not be able to cover given the sheer number of transducers that were available for taste testing that weekend.
